Love Spell Types and Ethics

Valentines day is right around the corner and it often brings a round of mixed emotions. Not everyone is in love with the "Hallmark Holiday", for some it is a reminder of the lack of love in their life, and in turn we see a large increase in people offering love spells, or talismans, or doing spell work for someone to attract a mate. Buyer and Witch beware. Not all Love Spells are the same. Let's consider some spell types and the differences between them, shall we? Now, these are my personal beliefs based off of a version of the three fold path, Golden Rule and Karmic Debt and the ethical responsibility, I believe, us magick makers hold. I do not often do magick on or for other people personally - my spell jars that are available are cleansed but generally meant to be charged with a specific intention by the user. I just give you a potent set up to work with. Now that we are done with the disclaimers, Let's go: Love Spell Type 1. - "Make them love me" a targeted spell on a specific individual to "make them love you/someone/whoever". This is a no- go for me, and here is why: This is a form of attempted mind control over another human being against their will. This is not true love, to force someone to love you or be with you, or stay with you. In my mind it can be considered a type of r*pe. Not only will it often lead to heartbreak and dismay you may have lost the chance to find that true love for you. You will always wonder in the back of your mind if this is actually love. I find this to be quite selfish. A general rule - ask yourself: Would I want someone to do this to me? If the answer is no, you should probably stop and reconsider. The Universe works in mysterious ways and though I believe it will send what's meant for you for better or for worse, I also believe if you don't learn you don't get the blessing just the lesson. Love Spell Type 2. - The Attract Spell - A spell set up to attract your love or soul-mate

This type of Love Spell often is not targeted at an individual but instead is trying to align your vibration with the vibration of the person that will bring love into your life. Think of magnets. This can be an attempt at making something or someone obvious to you that maybe you overlooked, or speeding up what may already be meant to be, and really letting the universe know that you want to find someone you truly align with. This not being a targeted spell, makes it a (karmically) safer one to use. The timeline may be longer than desired but this often leads to a decent outcome for both parties.

Love Spell Type 3. - The Self Love Spell - In my opinion this is where the secret lies. A spell done on yourself to help you see your best parts and most loveable parts (which is all of it bb). To uphold your worth and attract a person that is worthy of you caliber this type of spell is manifesting from the inside out and often sets the individual up for success in any relationship they may face on their way to their most wanted outcome. Knowing yourself and your worth and not letting that falter in the face of anything is an amazing power to behold. There are blending and variations of these spell types of course. Perhaps also some I did not consider or add. These again, are my personal beliefs that I align with. Some of you out there may not, that is fine, that is between you and the universe. I am not here to gatekeep - only to guide.

How to make my "I love myself" Spell Jar

Supplies: Pink Candle (White Candle alternative) Paper for Sigil / Intention Bowl for Crystals and Herbs Rose Oil / Jasmine Oil (not required) Glass Bottle / Jar - Your choice of shape and lid style. Pink Glitter (Any Kind / Optional) Herbs Any combination of : Rose Petals (Pink and Red if possible) Rose Hips Jasmine Lavender Honeysuckle Cinnamon Stones Any Combination of: (ideally small enough to fit into your vessel) Rose Quartz Amethyst (Pink) Aventurine (Green) Calcite (Pink and Green) Kyanite (Pink) Rhodonite Metals (optional):

Copper (associated with Venus) Steps: Do whatever ceremonial or ritual steps you need to do to begin your magick and put yourself into a space where it is safe to practice. Do remember to always burn things on a burn safe surface and never leave a candle unattended. 1. Cleanse your spell jar or bottle with whatever method you prefer, ex: Smoke, sound, selenite, running water, salt, bury it in the earth, moon light etc. 2. Carve "I truly love myself" into the candle from the bottom up add the symbol of the moon (the moon represents our inner selves, emotions, self worth and how we self soothe) the symbol of Venus (Venus is associated with what we find beautiful how we love and how we enjoy art and life). If other words resonate better use those - remember this is a guide not a law. You can also carve hearts and other symbols of true love. If you are someone who uses runes or personal sigils you may also carve these into the candle prior to burning. Keep in mind this is a spell being done on yourself. If available use the rose or jasmine oil to dress the candle in some of the suggested herbs mentioned above. From bottom to top as we are manifesting and growing something. 3. Write your intention or personal sigil on the piece of paper and place it beneath the candle 4. Light the candle 5. At this time we offer the herbs and stones to the spell. If possible drop herbs into the flame of the candle, Pass the stones over the flame (you do not need to hold them there). Place your hands over the bowl and imagine them glowing infusing the light into the crystals and then into your self. At this time meditate and chant about your intention - see the herbs and stones becoming imbued with the love and peace of the goddess within, let these items remind you we are all connected we are one and the same, and that you too are a beautiful wonderful being in this universe worthy of love and loving yourself without fear or regret. Just as the stones and herbs you too are made of star stuff. Some suggested incantations "As love flows through time and space

may I remember to give myself grace

and remember even on my darkest days

that I should be amazed at the wonderful being that is me

for I am of the universe and my greatness I can see " "May I always see

the better parts of me On days I am not fine, I'll remind myself I am divine I am enough and more" Allow the candle to burn and cast it's light on your stones and herbs Continue meditating / chanting imagining what it feels like and what it will take for you to truly achieve the goal of loving who you are.

Place the stones and herbs into your vessel, along with your intention / sigil from beneath the candle. If there are candle remnants you can place those in the jar, and you can seal this jar if you wish. Keep this jar near your self care items, perfumes or anything go to item that makes you feel like your best self. Gaze upon it every day and if needed chant again. bury spell remnants, if all you have is the waste bin, it will be buried in the landfill. Don't forget to ground and center before and after your spell work. Now go on my pretty get to the magick!
